Metallurgical operations:

Metallurgy:

The process of extraction of metal from the ore for various purposes is known as metallurgy. The various steps used in metallurgy are listed below.

1.  Enrichment or dressing of the ore: The process of removal of gangue ore matrix from the ore to increase the concentration of metal in the ore . The processes used for enrichment  depends upon the difference between physical and chemical properties of the ore and the impurities.

2.  Conversation of the enriched ore into the oxide of metal: It is easier to obtain metals from their oxide than that of their sulphides and carbonates. Therefore, carbonate and sulphide are first converted into oxides.
